This week is all about a class with the AUG HBAR as primary weapon. You will probably benefit most from it on tactical modes (objective based modes), but I’ve seen people use it successfully in TDM as well. The keywords are ‘smoke’ and ‘thermal’. Underrated class.
The class:

Primary: AUG HBAR + Thermal
Secondary: G18 + Akimbo
Equipment: Claymore
Special grenade: Smoke
Perk 1: Scavenger
Perk 2: Cold-Blooded Pro
Perk 3: Ninja Pro

The AUG is simply the easiest LMG. It almost feels like an assault rifle with a bigger clip and which slows you down a little (you can’t walk as fast with an LMG). Thermal makes it easy to spot enemies without Cold-Blooded, but even those running CB are reasonably easy to spot. Thermal also works well on maps with low visibility (Underpass!).

The G18 in akimbo simply rule. Some consider them nooby. I think they’re just very effective on short range. Akimbo adds to the firepower. Anything other than very short range and you should be using the AUG HBAR.

Any class with an LMG is not made for running around. So we’ll assume you’re pretty much staying in a certain confined area of the map. That’s where the claymore comes in, to cover your back.

The smoke is an excellent companion in this case. Use it for distraction, use it as cover (through which you can see because of the thermal) or use it to hide your claymore from plain sight. I’ve equipped Scavenger so that you can pick up more claymores and smoke-grenades and can keep on playing that way.

Cold-Blooded is to not make you a victim of your own smoke (imagine a guy across the map with a thermal sniper or AUG and you light up like a Christmas tree through the smoke). Ninja Pro because it’s awesome. Your own footsteps are (almost) inaudible to both you and your opponents. So you’re almost unnoticeable and you can focus on enemy footsteps.

Good luck, should be great fun playing with this class.

  2. Thanks for your comment. I have to admit it: I didn’t give the MG4 much playing time. It’s on my list now! But on the other hand: the AUG is one of the easiest LMG’s, a nice introduction to the LMG-category for people coming from the assault rifles.

  4. if you cant think of a class of the week nominee consider this one Primary: MG4 + Thermal and grip
Secondary Striker plus Grip/ Silencer (the striker is the best silenced shotgun)
    Equipment: TI/Claymore/Smoke

    Perks
    Bling (pr0)
    CB or SP
    Sitrep

  5. Well, your setup is OK, and mb even good. But why thermal?^ You can use it with a grip which makes it almost as accurate as acr but more powerful than it. That was just an opinion^ I still think AUG has a bit too high recoil and weight for thermal.

  6. I dived into LMGs with the Lr-86. Amazing gun with the grip. Without it, it sucks. But back to the topic, The Aug is an amazing LMG. In fact in real life it IS an assualt rifle. It just seems that this gun has the heavier barrel. And I agree with pantiak, with the grip (like most LMGs) the gun preforms well.

  8. Yeah, Grip is almost mandatory to all LMG’s. I guess you’d have to use Bling instead of Scavenger. Thermal’s nice though.

It’s also very sweet with a silencer!
